Using Semantic Web technologies in the development of data warehouses: A systematic mapping
Published Online: Dec 07 2018
DOI: 10.1002/widm.1293
The objective of this study is to examine recently published research articles that take into account the use of Semantic Web technologies in data warehouse development with the intention of summarizing their results, classifying their contributions to the field according to publication type, evaluating the maturity level of the results, and identifying future research challenges.

Hyperparameters and tuning strategies for random forest
Published Online: Jan 28 2019
DOI: 10.1002/widm.1301
Random forest has several hyperparameters that have to be set by the user. In this paper, we provide a literature review on the parameters' influence on the prediction performance and on variable importance measures. Moreover, we compare different tuning strategies and algorithms in R. The trees for this picture are taken from the website https://plants.swtexture.com, the water can is from Jstein and the chainsaw from Henry Mühlpfordt, both from the website https://commons.wikimedia.org.

Shannon versus semantic information processing in the brain
Published Online: Sep 12 2018
DOI: 10.1002/widm.1284
(Top) Raw human seizure ECoG with seizure onset and offset points marked by vertical red lines. Both the points are identified by certified experts from shape information of the signal by visual inspection (semantic information processing). (Middle) Shannon entropy (SE) by histogram method of the same channel but with more preictal and postictal recording. SE gives an estimated code length for integer (excluding floating point) bit representation of average sample value (Shannon information content). (Bottom) Semantic entropy (Majumdar & Jayachandran, 2018) of the same signal segment as in the middle plot, which is more informative about seizure occurrence than Shannon entropy.

A survey of game theoretic approach for adversarial machine learning
Published Online: Apr 30 2018
DOI: 10.1002/widm.1259
The dashed line is the decision boundary of a standard support vector machine (SVM) and the solid line is the decision boundary of a conservative SVM. The majority of the malicious instances evade detection by the standard SVM, but fail to foil a conservative SVM classifier.

Trained convolutional neural network based on selected beta filters for Arabic letter recognition
Published Online: Mar 05 2018
DOI: 10.1002/widm.1250
FWT and AdaBoost based CNN is powerful to recognize Arabic printed and handwritten letters. FWT was able to quickly extract features from letters. AdaBoost was used to select relevant features for each Letter shape, to be compared with the query Letter ones and find the closest class.
