Advanced Reviews

Genome‐scale metabolic models applied to human health and disease
Published Online: Jun 23 2017
DOI: 10.1002/wsbm.1393
Genome‐scale metabolic models are important tools for systems biology. Current research in the field involves using ‐omics data to obtain disease‐specific, patient‐specific, and organ‐specific models, using kinetomics, different objective functions, and multiple types of constraints to simulate metabolic reaction fluxes, and using model integration, increased model resolution, and individual‐based models to predict effects of drugs with patient specificity.
