Forensic service providers are not usually taught how to transition from the laboratory or workbench to the courtroom. The strictures of law, particularly the rules of evidence as applied to the threshold for and restrictions on expert testimony, are a far cry from intralab reporting and discussions. This primer will address the rudiments of evidence law to ensure that they are comprehensible to forensic service providers and to improve the quality of pretrial and trial presentation of forensic evidence.
