Context‐dependent regulation of receptor tyrosine kinases: Insights from systems biology approaches

The cellular and microenvironmental context controls the complex receptor tyrosine kinase networks. This context includes: extracellular ligands and other stimuli; receptors and coreceptors; intracellular trafficking; and downstream signaling. Systems biology approaches, including computational models and experimental “omics” techniques, are essential to understanding the regulation of this complex contextual network.
